CURWENSVILLE — Seventy years ago, a group of gardening enthusiasts came together to establish the Hobby Garden Club. Over the years, membership grew as individuals with a shared passion for flowers, gardening, and horticulture gathered in one another’s homes to exchange ideas and expertise. What began as informal meetings eventually led to the Club’s first Flower Show, creating a tradition that continues today.
The Hobby Garden Club is pleased to announce its 64th Annual Flower Show, to be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Curwensville Community Center, Stadium Drive, Curwensville. This year’s theme, “Believe in Magic,” will inspire a beautiful display of floral and horticultural exhibits presented by Club officers and participants.
The public is invited to attend and view the exhibits from 1-4 p.m. Admission is free, and there is no charge to participate in the show. Community members are encouraged to enter plants and flowers for judging or simply enjoy the displays and activities throughout the afternoon. The show will feature 21 adult flower classes, three children’s flower classes, and six horticulture categories.
First-place awards are sponsored through memorials, honorariums, and donations generously provided by club members and community supporters. A complete list of donors is included in the Flower Show Booklet, and a summary handout will be available at the event.
Guests may also enjoy refreshments and a variety of creative and educational presentations scheduled throughout the day.
