A family-run business is celebrating its latest success after being in the spotlight at a prestigious flower show.
Crane Garden Buildings, which is based in Narford near Lynn and has been running for more than 50 years, showcased one of its handcrafted products to thousands of visitors at this year’s Sandringham Flower Show.
The business supplied its National Trust Collection Ickworth Summerhouse – which was used as a visitor hub for Mindful Chef’s Gathering show garden during the five-day event.

Peter Mortin, Business Development Manager at Crane Garden Buildings, said: “To see one of our buildings at the very first RHS Flower Show Sandringham, so close to home, is incredibly special.
“There’s something particularly rewarding about showcasing Norfolk craftsmanship at such a prestigious event, especially one taking place on our doorstep. Every one of our buildings is handcrafted here in the county, so it’s fantastic to see that quality and heritage being enjoyed by thousands of visitors.
“To be associated with a garden that has received such significant recognition is the icing on the cake. It’s wonderful to see so many visitors spending time in and around the summerhouse while exploring everything the garden has to offer.”

Mindful Chef’s Gathering show garden was recognised with one of just two gold awards at the event, alongside the prestigious RHS Environmental Innovation Award and The King’s Biodiversity Award.
The popular flower show, which was held on the Royal Sandringham Estate for the first time, welcomed Their Majesty’s The King and Queen on its opening day and celebrated the best of horticulture, crafstmanship and outdoor living.
Crane Garden Buildings’ entry was built by hand in the businesses Norfolk workshop.

During the event, hundreds of visitors admired The Ickworth Summerhouse – which was designed by Sophie Godber of Spacecraft Garden Design and was set in the award-winning Mindful Chef’s Gathering show garden.
With an aim to celebrate the relationships between food, biodiversity and nature, the gardens featured a timber walkway through native plants, edible flowers and vegetables, alongside bird, hedgehog and frog habitats – to encourage wildlife to flourish alongside people.
Inspired by the elegant architecture of the National Trust’s Ickworth Estate in neighbouring Suffolk, the Ickworth Summerhouse combines traditional design with modern craftsmanship and is one of the signature buildings within Crane’s National Trust Collection.
