Visitors flocked to visit a Nairnshire garden as it opened its doors once again for good local causes.
Resident Jenny Rose-Miller – who was awarded a British Empire medal (BEM) earlier this year – was busy once again organising the open weekend in her one-acre garden in Barevan to support Nairn Men’s Shed and New Start Highland.
Local photographer Elena Reid was among the visitors.
She said: “Between the short showers of rain and sunshine the garden looked beautiful and was packed with visitors, enjoying home baking teas and coffee and having a good blether in the most beautiful setting.”

Mrs Rose-Milller explained: “The garden has developed over the last 35 years using the backdrop of mature trees and a natural pond which had dried up. There are three rhododendrons which came, in the mid 1930s, from Holme Rose House, near Croy, where my late husband was born.

“We started the garden openings in 2007 when we hired a marquee for family and friends birthdays. Several have been held for Nairn Museum, where I was manager for seven years.“

Since then, the openings have tended to be every other year, raising funds for a variety of charities, including Highland Hospice, Marie Curie, Bloodwise (Leukaemia research), Team Hamish, DEC Ukrainian Appeal and the British Heart Foundation.
