We are 6 weeks into our tomato experiment and it’s finally time to taste our first tomato! Does a tomato watered with kool aid taste any different than a normal tomato?

  1. Surprised the Dr Pepper one didn't salt bind guess it has the right amount also the monster is full of vitamins so makes sense. To quote some scientist "life finds a way".

  2. won't make any difference if anything the sugars in the koolaid and soda help the tomatoes grow bigger it's the samething like growing weed we use molasses to get a bigger yield

  3. Not saying this as disparagment just some knowledge, plants will actually not just fruit and flower under ideal conditions, but overly stressful ones too. It's like a failsafe in the plants genetics realizing "I'm probably going to die soon, I should probably fruit and go to seed real quick so I don't lose my chance"

  4. To be a proper scientist you'd need replicates for each condition.
(5 plants getting each kind of drink, not just one)

Having more replicates means you can be more sure whether the difference you're observing was caused by the variable you're changing, or by something random you don't have control over.

Maybe the plant that's not growing well with just water is unusual, and most plants would grow well with water.

Doing lots of replicates can get expensive though, so I understand why people often don't do replicats in kid's experiments.
