A nail salon business could open on a residential street in the Isle of Wight’s county town.

Kriszta Oltean Kis has applied for planning permission to run the enterprise from a summerhouse in her garden at 59 Robin Hood Street in east Newport.

The nail technician, who currently works in a salon in Shanklin, says the service would be ‘one to one’, with only one client at a time.

Her application form states the opening hours would be between 9am and 8pm.

She told planners: “There is a summerhouse that I would like permission to run my business from. I have a three-car drive where I am able to offer my clients a parking space, not affecting the road.

Miss Oltean Kis’s plans come after the Isle of Wight Council approved a proposal for a hair salon serving around four or five clients per day out of a garden shed at 21 Albany Road in Hunnyhill.

County Hall’s public consultation on application 26/00982/FUL lasts until August 21, with a September 16 decision date.
