MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Maintaining a garden requires a lot of work, but for some Marquette County residents that work has paid off.
The Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee’s Garden Tour showcased resident gardens around the county to raise money for Petunia Pandemonium. The Garden Tour is the largest fundraiser for the committee.
Participants took a tour around Marquette County to see the hard work gardeners put into their gardens. Garden Tour participant Monajean Rose says it takes a lot of work to get her garden into pristine shape. Rose says her garden is very emotional due to the familial connection she has with it.
“I call it like my heritage garden because I have perennials from my daughter, from my mother, from my grandmother, and from my great-grandmother,” Rose said. “It is a kind of heartfelt thing when I look out there and I see those flowers.”
The tour ran from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
