CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Storms moved through parts of New Richmond Tuesday afternoon, knocking down trees and leaving behind significant property damage.
Homeowner Lisa McKenzie said the storm arrived around 2 p.m. and the sky turned dark almost immediately.
“Very fast — like five, ten minutes at the most — and then it kept raining and the electricity kept going off and on,” McKenzie said.
150-year-old tree destroyed
McKenzie said she looked out her side door as rain and wind intensified and watched a large tree in her driveway begin to lean. When the storm passed, she walked outside to find her 150-year-old tree ripped from the ground. It crushed her English garden and brought down additional trees behind it.

“Very sick in the stomach, very sad … it’s lots of work, lots of years of work — so it’s heartbreaking,” McKenzie said.
McKenzie said she has lived at the property for more than 20 years and has never experienced storm damage of this scale at her home.
“We’ve had a lot of storms through the area, but none — never like this,” she said.
Seven trees damaged; no injuries reported
McKenzie said seven trees were damaged on her property. She said no one was injured and the house was not damaged.
“We are very blessed … I’m very thankful to the Lord for the fact we didn’t get hurt at any point. It didn’t hurt the house at all,” McKenzie said.
