A historic Suffolk estate is welcoming visitors for its final open week.

The gardens at Euston Hall, only accessible to the public on special days, are opening their doors from Tuesday, August 25 to Monday, August 31.

Guests can wander around fields of green and learn about plants and trees from the estate’s new head gardener, Matthew Brewer.

On August 25 and 26, Mr Brewer, known for his passion for different types of plants, trees, and flowers, will be answering gardening questions from members of the public in the safari tent from 1pm to 1.30pm.

Matthew has a broad knowledge of various garden types, showing particular interest in how climate change is influencing gardening in the UK.

He is well-versed in dealing with the impact of climate change, including selecting plants for increasingly dry summers and wetter winters.

He is also skilled at identifying and addressing new pests and diseases that might threaten plants.

Monday, August 31 is the last day people can visit the gardens.

Open from 10am to 2pm, entry costs £15 for a guided tour of the hall and access to the gardens.

A ticket for just the gardens is £9.

Access to the Gardeners’ Question Time is free if visitors have already bought a ticket for either the gardens alone or the guided tour.

All the profits from these ticket sales will go to support local charities.

As well as meeting the new head gardener, the estate offers wide parkland, wooded walks, and a historic walled garden for guests to enjoy during their visit.

A spokesperson for Euston Hall said: “The open days promise a memorable day out for garden lovers, families and visitors of all ages, with the chance to experience the beauty, history and horticultural excellence of this exceptional hall and estate.”
