We’re also digging dramatic jewels inspired by creepy-crawlies, creatures and critters: Bibi van der Velden’s frogspawn knuckle-duster, Boucheron’s aquamarine-and-diamond cicada ring and Graff’s signature butterfly motifs, which hover above the fingers, twinkling with rubies and pink sapphires. The ripest pick of the bunch? Swarovski’s juicy strawberry-shaped pendants, sparkling with ruby crystal seeds. Like the diamond-sprinkled red louro wood that features in Brazilian designer Fernando Jorge’s Deep Stream collection, these jewels, as photographed in British Vogue’s August issue, remind us the grass really is greener when nature is the source of inspiration.

Main image, clockwise from top: malachite frog ring, tiger’s-eye frog ring and gold, rock crystal and enamel spawn ring, Bibi Van Der Velden. White-gold, aquamarine and diamond cicada ring, Boucheron. Nails: Ella Vivii. Set design: Anna Burns. Model: Nadine Mendes. With thanks to Fulham Palace Meadows Allotments, SW6.
