Baldwin residents gathered at the Baldwin Community Garden on June 5 for the Baldwin Civic Association’s second Food Truck Fest of the season, an evening that combined food, entertainment and community connection.
Held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at the garden, 1980 Grand Ave., the event drew families, friends and neighbors looking to enjoy a night out together. It followed the association’s first food truck event of the summer, held May 22.
A variety of vendors offered an array of food options, including Coalhouse Food Truck, Royal BBQ Elite, Amped Empanadas and Chubby Cheeks Ice Cream Trailer. The trucks served everything from barbecue specialties to frozen desserts, and an outdoor seating area allowed attendees to relax and dine on-site.
In addition to the food, families took part in activities designed to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. Residents spent the evening socializing with neighbors while supporting local businesses.
The Food Truck Fest is one of several initiatives organized by the Baldwin Civic Association to bring the community together and enhance quality of life in the hamlet.
“The Baldwin Food Truck Fest was the brainchild of Beautification Chair Elissa Kirschner and is now in its fourth year,” Kim Malone, the association’s president, said in a release to the Herald. “It is a wonderful, family-focused activity that brings together members of the Baldwin community, gives families the opportunity to enjoy a great meal while taking the night off from cooking, and provides exposure to local businesses.”
The event also offered vendors an opportunity to showcase their products and connect with residents. Admission was free, with food and drinks available for purchase.
