This is my first time composting. Made the mistake of starting my compost base with paper bags that I tore up by hand. Most pieces were probably 3×3 inches or less. They clumped together initially so I’ve been trying to at least separate them. I’ve also moved some of the less broken down pieces to the other side. For these remainders pictured, will they break down within the next month or should I try to rip them up more? I’ve stopped adding to this side of the tumbler to let it get closer to use for fall planting.

Yes, in time. The more mass, the faster things break down.
