Young musicians will have the chance to perform before a live audience when Sonoma Botanical Garden hosts its annual Young Talent Night on Wednesday, July 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. as part of the Garden’s Acoustic Sunsets summer concert series.
The community showcase is open to solo performers and duos ages 21 and younger, giving aspiring artists an opportunity to perform in one of Sonoma Valley’s scenic outdoor settings. Last year’s event featured a dozen performers whose sets ranged from punk classics to folk music.
Santa Rosa’s School of Rock will emcee the event for the first time, introducing performers throughout the evening.
“One of the greatest joys of music is watching young people discover the confidence to perform,” said Jeannie Perales, executive director of the Sonoma Botanical Garden. “Young Talent Night celebrates creativity, courage, and community.”
Performance slots are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Musicians should sign up between 5 and 5:15 p.m. Each performer will receive a 10-minute set and may bring handheld instruments. A professional sound system will be provided.

Now in its third season, Acoustic Sunsets features weekly live music every Wednesday evening through Sept. 16. Guests can also enjoy local wine tasting, family-friendly activities and a dog-friendly atmosphere. Admission is included with Garden admission and is free for Garden members. Reserved umbrella-shaded picnic tables for up to six guests are available.
Also on view is the Garden’s summer exhibition, “Spirit Guides: Fantastical Creatures from the Workshop of Jacobo and María Ángeles,” organized by Denver Botanic Gardens. The exhibition features eight monumental sculptures inspired by the Zapotec calendar by the Oaxacan artists Jacobo and María Ángeles, highlighting traditional craftsmanship, mythology and contemporary art.
