Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga last week launched its first-ever Female Maker Market series.
The market curates a variety of hand-crafted goods in an outdoor shopping setting at Chaffey Town Square. It began July 10 and continues monthly on Aug. 14, Sept. 11 and Oct. 9.
The market event takes place from 5-9 p.m. and features more than 30 women-owned businesses and local makers offering handcrafted goods, specialty products, and unique creations.

Reminder: Target opens this week in Perris
Target opens July 21 at Perris Plaza, taking the place of the former Regency movie theater.
The store, which was announced by the city of Perris in 2024 with an opening set for summer 2025, is opening at 1688 N. Perris Blvd., Building L.
The 150,112-square-foot store will bring a whole lot of merchandise under its familiar red-dot banner, plus add 152 jobs to the community.
Target will include a Starbucks café, CVS pharmacy, optical shop and an electronics niche dedicated to Apple products.
Target is hiring for the Perris store. Find open positions on its career page online (corporate.target.com/careers/job-search) for more details. Roles include cashiers, guest services personnel and more. Base pay starts at $18.25 hourly.

New pediatric-adult clinic coming soon
Community leaders, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital administrators and staff got a sneak peek at the new Children’s Health Moreno Valley Pediatric and Adult Medicine Clinic during a ceremonial ribbon-cutting held in June 30.
The new clinic is merging two existing locations in order to provide more pediatric and adult services.
It features 22 exam rooms — including 16 for med/peds and six for pediatrics. The clinic will offer a range of services, including wellness checks, immunizations, sick visits, and adult internal medicine.
The facility is slated to open later this year at 22270 Eucalyptus Avenue in Moreno Valley.
Grants funding diabetes, aging research at CSUSB
California State San Bernardino is getting a $1,164,085 in federal grants to expand student research into aging, obesity, kidney disease and improving patient care.
These grant awards will enable CSUSB students and researchers to explore new approaches to understanding diabetes and kidney diseases and the factors that support healthy aging, according to Rep. Pete Aguilar’s office.
“These federal investments advance CSUSB’s mission to expand opportunity, drive innovation, and improve lives,” said CSUSB President Tomás Morales. “By supporting research in nutrition, healthy aging, adult health services, and biomedical workforce development, these awards create transformative opportunities for our students, faculty, and communities across the Inland Empire and beyond.”
The funding comes as part of four grants from the Department of Health and Human Services: $549,602 for diabetes, digestive and kidney diseases; $280,845 in biomedical research and research training; $186,638 in aging research and $140,420 in pharmacology, physiology and biological chemistry research.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured a check presentation for $5,000 to teachers at Creek View Elementary School.

Anthony Coleman is the new hospital president for Dignity Health – St. Bernardine Medical Center and Community Hospital of San Bernardino, effective June 29. The newly combined role comes as Coleman, a former U.S. Naval officer, returns to Southern California, where he previously held leadership roles with Kaiser Permanente – Fontana and Ontario Medical Centers. Most recently, he was President and chief executive of Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health in Washington, D.C.
Abigail Proff is the new chief impact officer at the Inland Empire Community Foundation, succeeding longtime CIO Celia Cudiamat, who is retiring after 21 years. “Over the coming months, I’m excited to connect Abigail to our community. She brings experience in housing, homelessness, and public health, but the magic happens when she is connected to our fundholders and nonprofits,” said Michelle Decker, president and chief executive of IECF. Proff brings more than a decade of experience and most recently was director of Funding, Procurement and Allocations at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, where she oversaw an $800 million community investment portfolio
Mark Bertone and his team at Madole and Associates Inc. have joined Fuscoe Engineering in its Ontario office. The merge will help Fuscoe reach more clients seeking civil engineering services in the Inland Empire. The 45-year-old Madole and Associates has provided civil engineering services for residential developments throughout Southern California. Bertone has been with the firm since 1985 and has been its president since 2002. He is joined by five Madole team members.

Angie Cline and Russell Gomm have joined the board of directors at Independent Living Partnership where they will help the organization’s leadership with their expertise in law, technology, nonprofit governance, strategic planning and organizational operations. Cline is a senior operations leader with Learning Care Group, an early childhood education provider. She previously served nine years on the LCG iCare Foundation board of directors. Gomm graduated from Harvard Law School and specializes in estate planning, with a strong background in technology solutions.
