My kid (7) wanted to let the grass grow long like a meadow. We chose a patch at the back of the garden and we haven't cut it all year. We've had all sorts of wildlife sheltering in there. The birds and inspects love it and we've even harvested some of the grass seed to fill patches in our other areas with grass. – Wales, UK –

Yeah i think people demonize grass too much when every continent has native grasses. They are keystones to most ecosystems. The seed can feed birds, nesting material for many species including some insects.

Thanks also for keeping the tansy ragwort. I know that the UK considers it one of the 5 main weeds they control but it is native.
