On a beautiful sunny Sunday, July 12, families, residents and visitors crowded the streets of Downtown Petaluma to attend the 23rd annual Petaluma Art & Garden Festival.

More than 100 vendors lined up along 4th Street, taking up several blocks of the surrounding area. Free admission drew thousands of attendees looking to enjoy art, food, plants and more from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mike Euphrat, a resident of Petaluma, said this was his third year attending after he moved here about two years ago. He came with his girlfriend, a gardening enthusiast, to walk through the booths seeing what the different merchants had to display.

Many attendees enjoyed a variety of refreshments around the festival as commemorative glasses were available alongside drink tickets as a souvenir and vessel to the many beverages available.

Traci Long, one of more than 100 volunteers, signed up to pour wine at one of the booths. An avid volunteer, Long said she loves helping out at events like this.

“This is a wonderful Petaluma community event,” Long said.

A full schedule of live performances filled the area with music. People could enjoy bands on the main stage with nearby seating at tables and grass lawns. An acoustic stage was also available, nestled in the lanes of booths for more intimate performances.

Ed Hirsch, a Rohnert Park resident, enjoyed the weather and beverage offerings.

A first-time attendee, Hirsch said he had taken the train with his girlfriend to see CozyCats, a band they had been following.

“I would recommend the event to anyone who wants to come down in the future,” Hirsch said. “It’s a great time.”
