BOONE — The Roots in the Garden series will welcome Asheville-based Holler Choir to Daniel Boone Native Gardens on Thursday, July 16, for the third concert of the 2026 season.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with music at 5:30 p.m.
Asheville-based Holler Choir, led by songwriters Clint Roberts and Jackson Grimm, blends old-time, Americana, and bluegrass with sharp, original lyricism and tight harmonies. Their debut album, Songs Before They Write Themselves, was recorded at Asheville’s historic Echo Mountain Studios and produced by Michael Ashworth of the Grammy-winning Steep Canyon Rangers. The album has drawn praise from No Depression and Rolling Stone France. The band has since toured with The Old 97s at venues like San Francisco’s Fillmore and Tucson’s Hotel Congress. Holler Choir has performed at AmericanaFest, FloydFest, and the North Carolina Folk Festival.
The concert is presented by Anna Banana’s, the downtown Boone consignment shop.
This is Anna Banana’s fourth year as a Roots in the Garden concert sponsor.
Watercolorist Mia Simone will be the evening’s live visual artist. Her original work, created on-site during the performance, will be auctioned at the end of the night to benefit the Gardens.

Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5 to support the Gardens. La Monarca, the Boone-based, family-owned Mexican food truck, will be on site, and wine and beer will be available for purchase. Picnics and coolers are welcome. Guests should bring a blanket or lawn chair. Dogs are not permitted.
The Roots in the Garden season wraps up with DaShawn Hickman & Sacred Steel on July 30 (presented by The Mustard Seed Market & Home) and TANASI on Aug. 20 (presented by Vidalia Restaurant and Wine Bar).
Daniel Boone Native Gardens, at 651 Horn in the West Drive, opened in 1963 and offers three acres of native flora, including a fern garden, a rhododendron garden, a rock wishing well, and a new rain garden. A special highlight is the Pickin’ Porch, built in 1996 to honor the mountain tradition of front-porch music gatherings.
