Winter can be a notoriously difficult time of year to keep your lawn looking nice.
The lack of sunshine and colder temperatures can restrict grass growth, lead to patches, and drain that lush green colour from your front yard, back yard, or nature strip.
There are plenty of items you can use to fertilise the soil, but if you’re looking for something that will bring the look of life back that day, there’s an item Aussies have been raving about.
Lawn Solutions’ Colour Guard is a liquid fertiliser and natural grass pigment that “instantly” restores your lawn’s colour.
Perth dad Ben used it on his front lawn during winter last year and told Yahoo Lifestyle it worked perfectly.

“The darker colour not only keeps the lawn looking nice but it helps absorb more heat, keeping the temperatures up a little, and encouraging some more growth later in the year as a result,” he said.
“Plus the tiny bit of fertiliser that gets absorbed through the leaf.”
The lawn enthusiast said the only downside of it was the price.

The product is sold at Bunnings for $36 for a 2L hose-on bottle, as well as in a 100ml concentrate bottle that you combine with water.
Ben used the concentrate and chucked the mixture into his sprayer, and the job was done in no time.

But be warned: because it is a pigment, it can stain anything it touches until it dries.
So if you have kids or pets that want to play in the newly lush-looking lawn, they might have to wait a few hours to ensure they don’t get the green dye all over their shoes and feet.
The product lasts for up to three months, and you can use it year-round, especially in summer when grass can get burnt from the hot sun.
“Make your neighbours green with envy,” Bunnings said.
Customers who have used it during the colder months said it’s the perfect quick-fix solution if you want your struggling lawn looking green again.
“My grass was OK, typical winter grass, but hitting it with this made it look like it was summer again,” said one happy customer.
“Just be careful when applying it, and wash off any bits you get on your concrete or fence.”
“My buffalo grass was a little yellow in colour due to winter dormancy. Fantastic results. Grass looks natural, so easy to apply, and any overspray can be easily cleaned with water,” added another.
The pigment can be sprayed onto your grass to make it look greener during winter.
Others have used the product for other reasons, like just before a wedding, selling a home, or a rental inspection, to give the grass a much-needed boost.
But some reviewers weren’t as happy, and said it was difficult to apply, faded much more quickly than the three-month claim promised, or made their lawn look fake.
