THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Bootleg is the eighth LP from The Garden — the California duo of twin brothers Fletcher and Wyatt Shears.
“Bootleg is a compilation of songs written and recorded overtime with no particular intent or goal in mind,” the brothers say in a press release. “This album is and was purely a pleasurable endeavor by us both. Every track has its own meaning or story, not unlike a chapter book of different narratives.”
Bootleg is the followup to The Garden’s 2022 album Horseshit On Route 66, which included the tracks Freight Yard and Chainsaw the Door, and the 2024 EP Six Desperate Ballads, which includes the track Ballet.
Since forming in 2011, The Garden have cultivated their own community of dedicated and eclectic fans around the globe, honed in on their singular “Vada Vada” sound of slick, catchy riffs paired with hostile, calculated drums, and established a visual aesthetic that feels both haunted and arthouse. They have also become known for their high-energy live shows where the band display aggressive and belligerent behavior on stage, balanced with technical precision and emotive grooves.
The Garden have collaborated with Mac DeMarco on the track Thy Mission and toured with the likes of Turnstile, Knocked Loose, JPEGMafia, Flipper, Iceage, L7, Alice Glass, Snow Strippers, Show Me The Body and many more. Fletcher also creates electronic material with his side project Puzzle, while Wyatt has his indie / alternative project Enjoy.”
