A Bournemouth nursery’s young children have won a gardening competition.
Three and four-year-olds from Park School Nursery in Bournemouth, triumphed in the Bournemouth in Bloom competition on June 24, beating 34 other schools.
Their entry, themed Edible Garden, featured a variety of produce, including beans, curly kale, pumpkins, peppers, radishes, courgettes, cucumber, and edible flowers.
The children planted bean seeds as part of a Jack and the Beanstalk story re-enactment and were inspired to plant 100 turnip seeds after enjoying the story of The Enormous Turnip.

Nursery staff explained how the children not only grew the produce but also harvested and prepared strawberries and tomatoes, enhancing their fine motor skills.
The children also took seedlings home to grow their own plants with their families.
