Gardeners’ Club to host ice cream social
The Gardeners’ Club will host an ice cream social from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Aptos Grange Hall, 2555 Mar Vista Drive.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite ice cream topping to share. Those who do will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a “Succulent Sundae.” A plant table with low-cost plants also will be available.
The Gardeners’ Club welcomes gardeners of all experience levels from throughout Santa Cruz County. Monthly meetings include guest speakers, refreshments, plant sales and opportunities to connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts. Visitors and new members are welcome.

Evening Garden Exchange Pop-Up planned July 10
The Santa Cruz Garden Exchange will host a free Evening Garden Exchange Pop-Up from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, at the Live Oak Grange, 1900 17th Ave.
Gardeners are invited to bring plants, cuttings, seeds, bulbs, succulents, houseplants, vegetables, fresh flowers or other garden-related items to swap while connecting with fellow plant enthusiasts in a relaxed evening setting. Participants do not need to bring items to attend, but are asked to take home anything not exchanged.
The pop-up will feature Get Loafed, a local organic baker offering fresh baked goods available for purchase while supplies last, and Angel BB Matcha with organic, hand whisked, premium matcha.

Free guided tours offered at UCSC Farm
The UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology will offer free guided tours of the 30-acre UCSC Farm from 10-11:30 a.m. on select Saturdays at the UCSC Farm.
Participants will tour organically managed greenhouses, hand-worked garden beds, orchards, row crop fields and the children’s garden while learning about the history of the site and the principles of organic farming and gardening. Perched on a meadow near the campus entrance, the farm also offers panoramic views of Monterey Bay.
The tours are free and open to the public. Meet at the Hay Barn. Advance registration is required. Visitors should park in Lot 116 or the Village parking lot. Tours are canceled in the event of heavy rain.

Herbal skincare workshop planned at Cabrillo Cottage Farms
Sweet Herb Medicinals will host a hands-on herbal skincare workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, at Cabrillo Cottage Farms at 4461 Porter Gulch Road.
Led by herbalist Bridget Giuffrida of Sweet Herb Medicinals in Boulder Creek, participants will make and take home a handcrafted hand and body crème, and create fresh rose flower water, or hydrosol, using seasonal blooms. Recipes and instructions will be provided so attendees can recreate the products at home.

Trescony Community Garden restoration seeks volunteers
Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation and Santa Cruz Community Gardens will host a volunteer workday from 4 to 7 p.m. July 14, at Trescony Community Garden in Trescony Park.
Volunteers will help remove invasive Bermuda grass and replant native ground covers as part of an ongoing effort to restore and improve the community garden. Participants are encouraged to come prepared to work outdoors and get their hands dirty while supporting a local green space. The project is supported in partnership with OLLI at UC Santa Cruz.
