The Miss Ludington Area Scholarship Program sponsors are hosting a Meet Miss Ludington Area Garden Party to introduce the current Miss Ludington Area, Ashley McPike, to those interested in learning more about competing in the next Miss Ludington Area Scholarship Program. The event will also provide information to those community members interested in learning more about how they can support the program by volunteering, judging and sponsoring a scholarship.
The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, in Ludington and will be hosted by Miss America Scholarship Program affiliate sponsors, Staci Palma Collins, Miss Ludington Area 1979, and Susan Juroe of Epworth Heights. Many former Miss Ludingtons, former and current volunteers and sponsors will be present. Light snacks and beverages will be provided, with live entertainment by Third Coast Swing.
The Miss Ludington Area Scholarship Program benefits the young women of the four-county area of Mason, Lake, Oceana and Manistee in a variety of ways. Natalee Urbon, last year’s Miss Ludington and first runner-up in last year’s Miss Michigan, speaks to the many positive reasons to compete in the program.
“Did you know that the scholarship can go towards paying off student loans? And that it helps you with personal interviewing skills, public speaking and networking?,” Urbon said. “Not to mention, it surrounds you with a like-minded sisterhood of women who won’t allow you to be complacent but instead motivate you to accomplish your dreams and push you toward success.”

The next Miss Ludington Area Scholarship Program will be held Dec. 20 at the Petersen Auditorium. Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 28, and planning to enroll or attend college or university at the time of the competition.
