It’s Day 4 of my 30-Day Garden Transformation Challenge! 🌿
I’m four days into my challenge to spend time in my garden every single day with one simple goal: leave it a little more beautiful than it was the day before. Every day starts with my daily gardening routine—watering my plant stash, pulling a weed, deadheading, fertilizing one area, and planting something from my collection. Then I tackle one focused garden project to help move my garden one step closer to the transformation I’m working toward.
Today’s project is all about refreshing containers. Over the course of the season, container gardens can start to look a little tired, so I spent the day fertilizing, cleaning out spent plants, replanting, rearranging, and moving pots to better locations around the garden. None of the changes were dramatic on their own, but together they made a huge difference. Fresh containers instantly brighten a space and are one of the quickest ways to give a garden a polished, well-cared-for look.

Janie, can you take the time to explain the differences between all the different Pink Muhly's available to purchase online??
What I mean is –
Differences aside from "This one is grown by Proven Winners, and this one is not."
Are the newer ones "more pink" in color?
Different sizes at maturity?
etc.

I'm not one of the people who commented on the containers in front of your office either, but I was definitely super disappointed they hadn't been installed facing forward. It's ridiculous how happy I feel that you fixed them! LOL!!! I'm really enjoying your 30 day challenge, and hoping it will help inspire me; I'm not a morning person so I don't tend to get a lot done in our Sacramento summers! I'm not sure if you saw my comment the other day, but stay on the lookout for purslane when you're weeding to feed to your chickens so you get more omega 3s in your eggs!

Great video – thanks for posting today on our 250th holiday. 🎆 I grew up in So. Cal so I am familiar w/ bougainvillea…. both a bane and a blessing! Your idea to plant against that hot white wall in conTAINers is brilliant – the best solution to contain them yet let them do their big wild gorgeous thing! They will be beautiful there! Good job today!!!

Loving this daily challenge, and getting daily videos for July is a fantastic bonus. My friend, and I are doing the challenge in our own way. We both have house , and garden projects we need to work on. We are keeping each other accountable to work on our lists each day.

Hi Janey, it’s not just that those plants are not bringing you joy, they are obviously very unhappy in those containers. Taking them out of their misery is a kindness.
I'm so glad that you are doing videos daily. You're going to spoil us. I think that planting bougainvillea in the stock tanks is going to be stunning. The Haddonstone planters looked very nice the way you had them. I'm sure that I will get used to them the new way. Thank you for these inspirational videos.

The combo of purple fountain grass and dishonorable is one I'll be copying ❤ and thank you and Jason for turning the pots 🙂 it looks so great! I love the lemon trees flanking the door to your office and those planters are sooo beautiful. Have you thought of putting your dig,plant, water, repeat logo above the door? I remember how you were struggling a bit with how to balance the entrance since the door isn't centered, but having that climbing rose on the one side is really doing the trick I think.

Perfect effort on the Great Pot Twist! 👏 I have a huge container that I plant up with Purple Fountain and 4 diachondra every year and I love it. The diachondra bird nest is adorable! Zone3 Manitoba 🇨🇦💪❤️
I am dumbfounded every Summer when I plant up containers the exact same way fertilizing weekly, same sun and water. One does great and the other has plants dying & have replaced Supertunia's many times and still are dying. So strange! My Superbena (Cobalt & Sparkling Amethyst) have done great.
Janey the galvanized planters will work perfectly for bougainvillea! Those plants love the hot sun so they will give you a beautiful show on the white wall, great call👍 Thank you for listening to us regarding your beautiful planters on either side of your office door! The planters are too expensive and beautiful not to look lined up correctly. Beautiful now!
