Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce are expected to tie the knot Friday night at Madison Square Garden, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the security plans surrounding the highly anticipated event.
The official, who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the plans, said the wedding festivities will begin with a smaller rehearsal dinner Thursday evening before the main ceremony on Friday.
Rumors surrounding the couple’s wedding have intensified in recent days after weeks of speculation that the superstar singer and the three-time Super Bowl champion would exchange vows over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Madison Square Garden, one of New York City’s most recognizable venues, has long been rumored as the location, fueling widespread excitement among fans.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani acknowledged Wednesday that city officials had received a permit application for a “large event” at Madison Square Garden, though he declined to confirm whether it was connected to Swift and Kelce.
“We are fully prepared,” Mamdani said. “There isn’t anything to share beyond that.”
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch also indicated that law enforcement agencies have been coordinating security efforts for the event, reflecting the extraordinary attention expected for one of the most high-profile celebrity weddings in recent memory.
Swift and Kelce have become one of the world’s most talked-about couples since publicly confirming their relationship in 2023. Their appearances together at NFL games, concerts and public events have consistently generated global headlines and intense media coverage.
If the ceremony proceeds as planned, it will mark another unforgettable moment in the couple’s widely followed relationship. With thousands of fans expected to gather around Madison Square Garden and heightened security already in place, New York City is preparing for an event that is likely to draw worldwide attention and become one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year.
