We are reportedly just a day away from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tying the knot at Madison Square Garden.
It’s all but confirmed by the couple themselves that the nuptials are happening there on Friday, what with the very wedding-esque items being loaded into the venue, the New York City officials confirming security plans, and other hints and suggestions.
Here’s the rundown for the big day!
When is the wedding?
By all accounts, July 3rd, with a rehearsal dinner planned for Thursday night, according to the AP. The exact timing of the wedding is still unknown, but the day seems pretty solid and all the activity surrounding MSG point to that as well. It makes sense because the Fourth of July is known as one of Taylor’s favorite holidays and she’s thrown lavish parties in the past to celebrate.
Why is it at Madison Square Garden?
Taylor just really loves the Knicks! No, we’re kidding. There’s no public reason given for the location, but all signs point to it being a logistical choice, primarily for safety and privacy. The indoor arena prevents any aerial photography and the city is certainly equipped for a large-scale event like this. New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch declined to confirm the wedding was happening on Friday, but said, “I would be remiss not to mention an event that we are tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The NYPD will, of course, have a detail in place, but I am not going to go into more specifics on that at this time.”
Has Madison Square Garden done a wedding before?
Two in fact! One for Sly Stone and his wife Kathy Silva, the other a mass ceremony officiated by Rev. Sun Myung Moon in 1982.
How are they decorating a giant arena?
From the sounds of it, like a romantic, floral, fairy tale, complete with a castle set up! Photos taken by Page Six show large white banisters that could, per the outlet, be intended for a castle set up. TMZ also reported a castle was being constructed inside and that crews were loading in set pieces labeled “Garden Party 1 (Scenic).” A red carpet was also rolled out but apparently ripped up and replaced with a purple carpet.
Who’s coming to the wedding?
A lot of famous faces! We know for sure Travis’ brother Jason Kelce and sister-in-law Kylie Kelce will be there, as well as Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, Travis’ pal George Kittle and his wife, Claire and Suki Waterhouse, who opened for Swift on the Eras Tour. It’s also likely we’ll see Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, Stevie Nicks, and Zoe Kravitz, among others, per People.
What’s the dress code?
According to People, the dress code will be black tie.
Will we see any selfies from inside?
Not likely! “Guests have been told there will be a phone check upon arrival,” a source told People.
What’s Taylor going to wear?
Good question! We have no solid idea. Taylor’s sported a wedding gown in her “I Bet You Think About Me” music video, as well as one in a viral clip of her singing “Champagne Problems,” both of which were big, poofy, and princess-y, which certainly seems like a possibility.
What’s Travis going to wear?
A suit or tux or whatever, who cares! It’s all about the bride!
Is this wedding really happening this weekend?
It appears so! Some fans have speculated that Taylor “Queen of the Easter Eggs” Swift is going to pull some kind of switcheroo and announce something else or film a music video or something, but that seems pretty unlikely at this point. That would be A LOT of effort to misdirect everybody, but if anyone could pull it off, it’d be Taylor. A lot of people have also speculated that Taylor and Travis were already married in a secret ceremony and this is just for show, which definitely seems a little more likely.
Either way, Friday is going to be a big deal!
