MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Grand Strand fire district is marking a new milestone tied to its emergency medical services program.
Murrells Inlet–Garden City Fire District officials announced the agency earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services, saying it received a perfect score during the review process.
Officials said the accreditation is a three-year designation and recognizes standards in emergency medical services.
According to the fire district, CAAS accreditation includes an independent review of areas such as clinical care, operations, safety practices and organizational accountability.
The district also said that based on current CAAS records, it is the first Fire/EMS agency in the Carolinas to receive the designation.
Fire district officials said the accreditation model is designed to support continuous improvement by helping agencies identify opportunities, strengthen systems and plan for long-term sustainability.
The district thanked its personnel, saying their work and commitment helped make the accreditation possible.
