BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A new community garden is currently in the works, aiming to provide education and fresh produce to the area.

Behind a home on Old Hearne Road in Bryan, it may not look like much now but volunteers with Common Ground, a non-profit group working under the Institute for Global Health and Health Policy, are working to create a community garden, before expanding the area into a pasture for chickens and sheep.

The trees and plants cut down to be used for compost and other supplies, trying to make use of all of the natural resources on the land.

The group says its very early stages but hope to have the garden done by the fall and the pasture within the following year.

For those interested in learning more about the group or wanting to find out how to volunteer or donate, visit the groups Facebook page.
