When I was in grade school, I surmised that watering a plant with orange soda would make it grow better because it had carbon dioxide in it, and plants breathe carbon dioxide. My teacher thought it was stupid and told me to pick a new project. (Not his exact words, but I was encouraged to try something different)
I still wonder to this day if it really makes a difference. It probably doesn't, because soda is mostly water anyway… But a kid can dream.
