During the summer months, nature stages a spectacular show of vibrant colours as several flowers and plants will come into bloom around the same time, transforming rural areas, parks and gardens into a riot of colour.

National Trust sites are among the best places to witness this incredible scenery, as it boasts gorgeous settings in its natural beauty that will look beautiful no matter what time a year you decide to make a visit. However, one specific National Trust Gardens located in Northern Wales has now been named one of the beautiful ones due to its stunning summer blooms, and makes for the perfect location for a summer walk.

Taking to TikTok, one woman named Grace, who often shares her top tips on the best places to go for a walk across Wales and the rest of the UK, has boasted about one specific gardens that makes for a perfect summer walk.

“Bodnant Gardens, one of the most tranquil places. Beautiful all year round but the best time to visit is mid May for the Laburnum arch to Early July for the rose gardens,” she wrote in the caption of the post, as the overlay text of the video hinted: “Is this the most beautiful National Trust Gardens?”

In her video, Grace went on to show snippets of her visit to the gardens, which is located at Tal-y-Bont, Conwy. It included walking through paths that had been fenced by gorgeous trees, making a natural ceiling over the path in question, before it cut to show the nearby pond, as well as the gorgeous views from the garden, which is donned with colourful, blooming flowers.

The Grade-I listed Bodnant Garden spans 80 acres, featuring formal gardens, shrub-filled glades, meadows, woods, dells and water gardens. It’s a magical landscape that becomes even more breathtaking in the summer months.

Established over 150 years ago, the gardens were cultivated with plants collected and brought to Britain from far afield, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Carneddau mountains of Eryri.

Historical records reveal that the site was once the residence of the Lloyd family from the reign of James I, before being passed on to the Forbes family in the mid-1700s.

The present Italian-style mansion was constructed in 1792 by Colonel Forbes, who also developed the surrounding parkland in the English Landscape style. Later owners added their own touches and in 1949, it was bequeathed to the National Trust by Henry McLaren, The 2nd Lord Aberconway.

Today, visitors can enjoy the sights of various exotic plants from the Blue Poppy of the Himalayas to the Fire Bush of the Andes, as well as five National Collections – Magnolia, Embothrium, Eucryphia, Rhododendron forrestii and Bodnant Rhododendron Hybrids, which brings gorgeous summer blooms. It also boasts Wales’s largest collection of UK Champion Trees, which provide a year-round spectacle.

If you’re wanting to make a day out of your visit, the garden is also home to a variety of tea rooms and cafes where you can purchase food and refreshments. There is also a shop and garden centre on site, selling gifts, souvenirs and plants. And if you’re bringing little ones, they can also enjoy a Play park in the car park, as well as a natural play zone with willow maze and a den building area.

And people couldn’t help but agree with Grace as several viewers took to the comment section of her video to share their own thoughts.

“Been here and its absolutely beautiful,” one person shared, while another wrote: “So enchanting. I hope i get to see this in person some day.”

“Looks like a fairytale,” a third person said.
