Honestly it your choice. If you like the ivy but hate how messy it looks you can neaten it up or get rid of it completely

The ivy could be grown in between the stonework. Be careful the wall doesn’t collapse.

it fits the countryside vibe and it’s WONDERFUL for wildlife. it’ll be full of nesting birds. some people don’t like the look, but wildlife habitats are, well, wild looking.

It is possible to round it over with a hedge trimmer once a year to keep it in check, can look quite neat. Not sure of the effects on the wall though if that’s what you’re worried about
