In today’s video, we’re back at the farm with some big updates and a few unexpected challenges. We finally received our delivery of hollow blocks for the new raised garden beds, but something isn’t right. James discovered that the blocks are incredibly fragile—literally crumbling like sand in his hands. Is this normal? We’re starting to worry about the quality of materials for our construction.

Aside from the building drama, we take a break to visit a local spot in our neighborhood for some delicious and affordable Filipino treats. We tried the special Halo-Halo for only 60 pesos ($1), and it was exactly what we needed to beat the heat! We also discuss our future plans for the farm, including whether or not to invest in a drone for spraying the crops and the ongoing struggle with armyworms in our sweet corn.

  1. Incredible prices at the restaurant near your house. The Col. brings a touch of humor and common sense to the vids.

  2. I purchased a truck of hollow blocks from a business an hour away when I was in Zamboanga City, since it had positive reviews on Facebook, I did not mind paying for the delivery. For my 2nd truck load of hollow blocks i decided to support a local business that was about a five-minute drive away. When the kuya unloaded the hollow blocks, he looked embarrassed because they began to crumble. After a rainstorm, the hollow blocks began to melt, and eventually it was just a large pile of sand.

  3. Definitely need a better concrete mixture and add fiber or steel needles for the most secure concrete blocks

  4. I hope you can get those blocks replaced for free. Needed a lot more water and not moved for awhile 😢 Doug I might paint my house "pumpkin " 😂
