Building a custom water feature on a very steep grass hillside came with some crazy construction challenges. From navigating a massive slope to dealing with a mountain of underground ledge rock, this backyard water feature transformation required some serious heavy machinery and expert problem-solving.
The Build Breakdown & Challenges
To successfully execute this backyard transformation, we had to break through intense ledge rock using a hydraulic hammer and jackhammer out massive stone portions piece by piece. Because of the steep hillside, we engineered and constructed a massive 5-foot-high boulder retaining wall around the bottom of the pond to ensure structural integrity and a natural aesthetic. After 10 years of planning and thinking this project through, this incredible backyard grass hillside is completely transformed into a peaceful paradise.
