I was getting sick and tired of birds decimating my baby tomatoes as soon as they set. Coming over in the mornings, putting a single hole in each fruit they could find, and flying away giggling and feeling accomplished.

Enter organza bags! I've had them on my tomatoes for two weeks today, and haven't had a single fruit damaged by either birds or slugs.

Have you had them grow and ripen in the bags? Any issues if they the bags are touching the skin of the tomatoes, especially during watering, etc. I put some on mine too but waiting for them to ripen so far.

I am a new gardener and I’ve grown a tomato plant that has been attacked two nights in a row. It’s a rat! I am going to try this and see if it is any kind of a deterrent.

Get a birdbath, a lot of times the birds are bitting tomatoes because they are thirsty

Is there something on the skin of the cherries?

Congrats! Just keep an eye out for them ripping the bags.

Yes! I put this same setup over mine and it’s flourishing

It’s worked for me in the past. Ive heard people write that the pests chewed right through them but they didn’t when I used them.

Have you tried putting water out for the birds? I’ve heard that they usually go after fruit for the water, not for sustenance. I have a ton of birds that live near my garden but I have dishes of water out all the time and haven’t had any predation issues! (by birds at least, earwigs are another story lol)
