There’s arguably nothing more exciting than finally seeing the (literal) fruits of your labor from your produce garden. Chances are, you’ve been working tirelessly for months, and perhaps even since last fall, and your hard work is paying off at long last.
When Greta Lee appeared as a guest on Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the actress couldn’t help but show off her most recent accomplishments. And no, they have nothing to do with the highly anticipated movie Toy Story 5, in which Lee plays the character Lilypad. These accomplishments came in the form of vegetables.

Greta Lee’s Gardening Backstory
Lee, who has starred in multiple hit films and TV shows, including Past Lives and Russian Doll, has been an avid gardener since the COVID-19 pandemic. In a 2023 interview with Talkhouse, Lee says, “Gardening brings [her] so much joy.” While living in New York City during lockdown, Lee turned to the comfort of manual labor and being outdoors.
In the past, she has specifically mentioned her love for mulching and how the simple task can symbolize losing something in order to gain something new. According to Lee, gardening has helped her adjust to her move back to her spacious home state of California from crowded New York, her favorite city in the world.
According to a 2022 interview with W Magazine, she’s even added native baby oak trees in her yard, excited at the idea of planting something that will outlive her.

Greta Lee’s Newest Obsessions
On June 23, the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse star appeared on Poehler’s show to discuss all things Hollywood, her iconic past films, and even some home-and-garden content. Lee came prepared with a basket full of fresh produce she has grown in her very own garden in LA.
“This is from your garden?” asked Poehler.
“Yeah,” replied Lee excitedly, pulling out a few specimens to show from a large basket she brought to the set. “And I have these eggplants. Honestly, you’re helping me. I can’t eat this all.”
Lee showed off her overflowing basket of homegrown eggplant and kale.
Despite Lee’s generous offer, Poehler wasn’t a huge fan of the eggplant. But they soon found a compromise.
“Okay, what about kale? You like kale, right?” asked Lee.
“Love kale,” said Poehler. “Obsessed with kale.”
