The Lake County Master Gardeners will share the benefits of including native plants in a garden at 10 a.m. July 11 at Mentor Public Library’s Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave.
Native plants support local animals and help balance habitat loss, and attendees can discover more during this free program, according to a news release. Registration is encouraged by signing up at www.mentorpl.org or by calling the Mentor library at 440-255-8811 ext. 1.
For those interested in gardening, Mentor Public Library also has a Seed Library. Patrons can check out free vegetable, flower, fruit and herb seeds from the library’s Main, Lake, and Headlands branches. The seeds are free, and patrons can borrow up to 15 packets per season, the release stated.
