Welcome back to My Carolina Garden! I’m Nicole, gardening in Zone 8B along the coast of North Carolina—and today’s garden tour is a special one.
We just had a much-needed rain shower, and the difference in the garden is incredible. Everything is fuller, brighter, and finally starting to feel like spring has truly arrived.
In this video, I walk you through my front yard garden beds and show what’s thriving right now—from fresh blooms to lush foliage and everything in between. There’s something about seeing the garden right after rain that really brings it to life.
If you’ve been waiting for your garden to “wake up,” this is your sign—it’s all happening right now.
In This Video, You’ll See:
A full front yard garden tour in April
What’s blooming and thriving after rainfall
Fresh spring color and growth
Real-time garden progress (not perfect—just real)
I have some real beauties to share including peonies which are among my favorite flowers and are typically difficult for me to grow in coastal NC.
Follow My Carolina Garden for more garden inspiration and ideas! Thanks for hanging out with me today.

Your garden is so beautiful already!!! Florida has been so dry that it’s been a struggle to keep things alive here. I love your red dipladenia plants and have just bought a few of my own. Do they climb for you? I was hoping to put them on a trellis, but I’m not sure they will climb.
The gardens are looking beautiful. Nothing like a good rain to make these plants happy 🙂 I was out pulling weeds yesterday and thought of you when I started pulling dollar weed LOL
Good morning Nicole I love how the yards comeing I fineally got about 3 inches of rain here in the north Alabama mountains 😊 happy dance and in my shopping excursion the other day I found miss huff lantana I’m like it was the only one I’m like your mine❤❤ Was a win win I needed a perennial like that but hard to find I have this barberty it’s my fave I planted a black lace elderberry a ginger wine ninebark and some dark leaved cannas and found a red splotched leaf banana it’s hardy for zone 7 to 11 I’ll try to find the name but I’m about my tropical flair thanks for brining here ❤😊🎉🎉
Hi Nicole you are my favorite channel!! I live in Central Florida and I grow tropical plants too. I can’t grow Russian Sage either. I have 4 plants that have been struggling in my yard for almost 4 years now I can’t seem to how the yucca either

Thank you for Sharing your beautiful plants ❤❤❤😀😀😀😀
Hi Nicole, So glad you got some rain in your gardening zone! We did as well here in the Charlotte, NC. Area. Love how your gardens are looking! So healthy and lots of good color!🥰. My experience with Guara has been hit or miss. I currently have a few that are doing pretty well but in the past I think I may have planted them in soil that was too rich and possibly fertilized them more than they needed. I read that less is more for this plant and so far in their second year they seem to be agreeable to this treatment. 😊. Thank you for this tour and for sharing your garden experiences! Take care. 👍🪴🥰

I love the snake plant combo in the pot. I would like to try the Dipladenia here in my tropical garden, but the last one I tried did not survive. Absolutely love your garden.
Hi Nicole, I really look forward to seeing your garden tour and all your ideas. I have purchased 3 dipladenia to try out in my garden after watching your tours. Thank you

Hi Nicole, your garden is absolutely beautiful so much color so early.😊😊😊 I was wondering about that rock! Hahaha 😂😂😂Liz
Nicole,
I believe that the Russian Sage is receiving too much water.
So happy you got rain too I know my plants were so happy. Love your garden especially the cute stone birds and rocks and other whimsical things makes it so special
Love the blue sea valley so pretty and the Yucca when I see a cool flower I’ve never heard of in your garden I put it on my list. Finally getting a few acres of land so I’m planning
can you lay down some milky spore for the grubs?
