The Wimborne Gardening Club is gearing up for its late summer show.
At its June meeting, more than 40 members gathered to hear an illustrated talk by Stephen Brown on Dorset’s declining butterfly populations and how gardeners can help by creating butterfly-friendly spaces.
The club’s next meeting will be held on Monday, July 6 at St Catherine’s Church Hall on Lewens Lane in Wimborne.
Christopher Brown will give a talk titled Gardening the World, which will explore the horticultural work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

A spokesman for the club said: “The talk on behalf of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission will look at how plots and graves are enhanced by horticulture and the challenges the commission face with climate change.
“All are welcome.”
Following the July meeting, the club will take a short break in August before turning its attention to the late summer show, which will be held at the Allendale Centre on Saturday, September 5.
The spokesman said: “We do hope that members and non-members will help us to make this a show for everyone to enjoy.”
The event will feature classes in vegetables, fruit, flowers, cookery, floral art, photography, handicrafts, and junior competitions for under-11s.
