MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – MoxieMoms in Marquette have created a space in the city to honor babies who lost their lives during pregnancy.
Planting Hope was held at the MoxieMoms Memorial Garden on the corner of Fifth and Spring St. This is the second time MoxieMoms has held the event. New flowers are planted in the garden as a way to help reflect on loved ones lost and to create a symbol of hope for those suffering.
MoxieMoms Green Space Coordinator Ashley Lucas hopes anyone in the public walking by the garden can see it as a way to bring awareness to those who lost their baby in pregnancy.
“We just hope it’s a nice space for them to acknowledge their loved one, and for others to acknowledge their loved one,” Lucas said. “You know, this is real and it happens a lot behind closed doors and not a lot of people talk about it.”
Lucas says anyone who would like to help take care of the garden can simply reach out to MoxieMoms on their Facebook page.
