This Gardener Turned Her Mother-in-Law’s Flower Beds Into a Stunning Garden

“Last year, I took on the challenge of completely redesigning this garden space,” Amanda explained in the caption of her YouTube video. “What started as an aging, overgrown area slowly became a beautiful, colorful garden through careful planning, planting, and lots of hard work.”

To celebrate finally finishing this garden overhaul, Amanda edited together clips of various stages of the process. “This compilation brings together all of the major projects and progress into one video so you can see the entire transformation unfold—from the first day of cleanup to the finished garden and everything in between,” she wrote.

The garden in question is in a large, curved garden bed bordered with stones in front of her mother-in-law’s house. Amanda got started by preparing the soil that was already there and removing the preexisting landscape fabric. Then, she evenly spread out the mulch, and pulled all of the drip irrigation to the top — which she was pleasantly surprised by. It covered more of the garden than she expected, meaning she only had to make minimal adjustments.

Then, it was time to place plants. Amanda started with a Ruby Falls Weeping Redbud tree and a few other foundation plants and shrubs. Then, she moved onto container plants, perennials and annuals before adding more mulch. And to top everything off, she added some decorative accents including a stone bird bath and stone frog statuettes. And then, the garden was complete!
