WYNCOTE — A new traffic garden for children has opened in Thomas Williams Park in Wyncote.
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and Cheltenham Township co-hosted a grand opening ceremony for the traffic garden, which gives children a safe, hands-on way to learn road safety. The ceremony took place at the park, located at the corner of North Bent and Hewett Roads, in Wyncote.
Traffic garden to open in New Hanover Township
The project was constructed with assistance from a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Community Safety Project grant, according to a Montgomery County spokesperson.
The traffic garden was designed to help children practice biking and walking safely while building confidence on the road. It features a kid-sized street system with painted roads, intersections, stop signs, and a roundabout.
The car free space will be open during park hours and will be a venue for safety education programs, according to a Montgomery County spokesperson. Visit www.montgomerycountypa.gov/trafficgarden for more information.
