Lots of work. I think there are many benefits. I think you know what is in your food and it is healthier and you have more variety of vegetables to enjoy. I think all of the exercise is helping your joints and muscles and will help you greatly as you age and remain more strong than otherwise would be the reality. Try alyssum as a trap crop for flea beetles. When the blooms completely disappear I know I've got them

5-6 ft edamame?! I’m listening… I start them indoors and soaked my first batch…TERRIBLE germination. Tried again on heat without soaking…perfect. So fast. Now I know!
Im really curious about the little squeeze pump you were using in the video when talking about surround kaoilin clay. Were you using the clay dry, or were you coating your plants with something else. Also thats a great tool for small gardeners.
It was awesome to see Jenna using the hedge trimmer in the garden. I have been using them for the past 3-4 years, but still use the string trimmer (weed eater) in other areas. I even found a pole hedge trimmer for sale by a local landscaping company over the winter and purchased it to save my back. You can use it just like a sickle bar hay mower to cut down grass, cover crops or spent flowers.
Thanks for all your great information and it’s something how the summers in Mississippi and Ohio are very similar even though we have a longer growing season. Keep up the excellent work!

I feel fortunate that I am in the same region so I know what I should be doing in the garden based on watching your videos as I learn. I liked your suggestion to use the diatomaceous earth, I will have to look for one of those puffer things to apply it! Thanks for your help-!
Just the opposite delay here in my zone 5a WI garden, no rain. Held back planting, soils so dry would have required copious amounts of city water to prepare for planting. I am like you in the sense of getting side tracked, start one thing, jump to something else, before I know it I am in the middle of several projects, lol.
I still keep a healthy perspective as far as not to let gardening become overbearing. I truly enjoy all the nature that surrounds me, had a baby bunny keep me company most of the day yesterday, hoverflies on the volunteer cilantro and a wren still trying to attract a mate for the birdhouse gourd, all good!

Our cold weather lettuce is doing great – spinach, kale, romaine, and a spring mix – will we definitely lose it once the warm weather hits or will it last through the heat and into the fall. Will we have to replant or is there a trick to getting it to harvest all summer long. We're zone 6b. Thanks!
I believe that I am in your neck of the woods (West Milton, just barely north of 70) and I spent about 4 hours today outside trying to get some semblance of order in the garden. I have absolutely nothing planted. Thank you for giving me hope!!

Great that you share how much time and effort you spend working on your soil to make it great. I think too many gardeners underestimate what it takes beyond dumping a bag or few of compost on it & mixing it in.
8:15 This is exactly the kind of timely gardening advice that can make a huge difference later in the season. I like how the video focuses on preparing the garden properly before planting warm-season vegetables, because strong starts often lead to the best harvests. But Surround is so expensive and you have to reapply after every rain.
I did poor planning this year apparently. I am still planting things, too! And I even completely missed planting my marigolds, which are just sitting on my porch where I was hardening them off, lol. Ooopsy!

It takes a long time to turn clay into great soil. The one thing I never tried is tiller radish. More rain today.
