Will my Gold Mop Cypress grow back


I got very confident with the pruning and I cut these wayyyy back.

    You might get something sprouting from the apex, if you’re lucky, but cypress are known to not back bud very readily, if at all, so all that twiggy stuff lower down won’t produce anything in all likelihood. You might have to wait until next spring until you know if anything is going to happen.

    It’s doesn’t grow back from the wood like most conifers would. Look this stuff up before you prune anything next time. Time of year is also important for certain plants optimal pruning.

    No, it’s dead. Cypress and most evergreens don’t handle heavy pruning. This will not survive, a tree this size has no way to regrow leaves to feed itself before its root store depleats and it dies.

    The thing with cypresses is that they are social, and like to live in groups of 56 or more.
