So you might remember that this week I made a post about my container garden, and how my landlord lightly accused me of flooding the basement with the water hose. Many of you joked “what does he do in the rain?” Well, this is what it looks like out here.

I am well aware that my garden is the only thing sandbagging his crawlspace anymore. And his downspout that I have directed into my soil bags, used to just pool up water in the front yard, pouring out the sides like you can see here, but also sitting against the crawl space.

So at this point, I just wanna have visual proof that I am not crazy and what I am doing is working. For those of you that don’t know, he ordered the front garden to come down this week so it all must go. I wonder where the water will go?

Anyway ~

Everything you see in the garden is up for sale on Sunday 6/14, if you are near North Bergen, NJ then stop in after 9AM. Broadway and 77th

Before you destroy your garden look up to see if your city, county, or state have any laws regarding tenants rights for gardening! My LL told me I couldn’t have a planter box because she was worried it would attract pests but lucky me LA county says landlords cannot prevent tenants from growing their own food as long as they are in movable containers! Also if that doesn’t exist for you, ask around your neighborhood fb groups to see if there are community gardens you could bring the containers to or if there are any neighbors that would allow you to put them on their property if you share the produce!

Omggg it’s all still there! No one has come by to rescue and rehome your plant babies?! I will try to come once the bags and pots have dried out. Did your Scrooge mcduck landlord give you a garden vacate date or is that at least flexible?! 😫💔

haha honestly your container garden might be doing more for drainage than the landlord realizes. my balcony setup turns into a mini reservoir during heavy rain and it actually helps keep water from pooling near the building. those soil bags are basically giant sponges

Yea the plants help dramatically! And all the non permeable surfaces are not graded correctly and pool water….NYC is a trip everything is all jumbled together….

Good luck! Im sorry your landlord is going after all of the plants its lovely!!!!!

I’ll say it again – it’s may be his choice (although check tenants rights!) But he is a fucking idiot who failed to properly seal and secure his property and wants to blame you for what is clearly his problem

This may be a good scenario for a post at r/maliciouscompliance.

I’m sure the hivemind has ideas.

Also fuck that guy. Let the plants do their plant things.
