  1. If wide mouthed jars are in short supply, I use regulars for things like stock (that pour) it also saves a little money because wide lids are more expensive. Yesterday I canned 14 pints of chicken thighs after finding a decent sale price on them. They defiantly went in wide mouthed jars. the resulting canned meat is so good in casseroles, soup or for chicken salad sandwiches.
I have never been very artistic with my garlic braids. Adding strawflowers is a great idea. That being said, since I learned from you about freezing garlic pucks, I've switched to growing hard neck varieties since storability isn't an issue when the pucks are in the freezer.
if it was me, I'd plant the '24 beans and then save some of this year's crop for next year's seed. that way you will always have fresh seed to plant the following year. by saving the seed from '24, next year your seeds will be 3 years old and germination will be declining each year.
I was just thinking about your chicken coop. I look forward to a grand reveal when it is done.

  2. I empty my pantry and freezer out every September. I call it shelf-tember. That way nothing is there longer than a year and it clears space for prepping stuff for holidays and harvesting the garden.

  3. Becky, you seem uncomfortable with the term pantry challenge… Maybe call it a freezer challenge. Seems more like what you are up to. And it is a great idea!

  4. im disabled so meal planning is difficult but i am trying to use things better like if i have chicken season it and use it for multiple things

  5. Hey Becky, just love watching you each week. This week tho’, I really wanted to reach thru the screen & grab the strawflowers, in order to save some of the blooms to make a bouquet for inside my home. 😊 Thank you for encouraging us each week! I learn so much from you.

  6. I know it can't be helped sometimes, but anytime Becky pulls some beautiful blooming flowers, my heart aches a bit. 😅 Also, why not make a nice bouquet of some of them at least?

  7. Becky, won’t the straw flowers come back in that bed from all the seeds left behind? Also, what do you do with such a huge amount of pumpkins?

  8. Moles:
Use a butter knife make a hole big enough for a stick of juicy fruit gum or any stick chewing gum.
The moles can’t digest it and die underground.

  9. I don't see a problem with the term "pantry challenge." A lot of You Tube channels use it to indicate clearing out their stored goods (whether it be a pantry freezer or refrigerator) to make room for replenishing. Why fix it if it ain't broke? 😊

  10. Just here to say i want to be like Becky when i grow up and im 44 😂 Thank you for being such a great inspiration 💖

  11. Becky, if you throw all the stawflowers at the edge of your woods, that would be gorgeous if they came up there.. much love. Barb

  12. Totally off topic, not sure you have seen, HuwRichards has an interesting post regarding a very simple chicken compost system.

  13. I noticed that you have a fever blister. I used to get those ALL of the time when I got stressed. A nurse told me about L-lysine. You take a pill or two when you feel the tingling and keep taking it everyday until it clears up. Hope this helps. Not sure if it will be good for nursing moms but check with your doctor. Love watching you plant your vegetables and flowers and am enjoying watching you use up your freezer and pantry stock!

  14. Becky I use solar power mole repellent got off of Amazon 4 years ago I have no problems with moles in my front and back yard.

  15. good grief, do you spend anytime inside the house? Thank God for nannies. interesting to see what your bean harvest will look like.

  16. Hi Becky! I really hope you see this! I'm 67 years old and I think my family would tell you I'm a good from scratch cook and an avid canner. However watching your amazing videos has really helped me out of my same old recipes. AND my bread is better and I'm making many new things! Foccacia… New to us!! Love it! Thank you so so much! Your biscuits great for strawberry short cake! I couldn't ever make good biscuits!! Now I have!! Love from Grams Kim Royal City, Washington

  17. Interesting, the pressure canner I have, which is the same one, states to heat the jars in the canner after filling them 1/2 way with water. Then dump the water when the canner says fill jars. I have not seen this done the way Becky is doing it before.

  18. OMGoodness! I love gardening but not so good at it. When I saw you pull those straw flowers out by the roots I almost cried! Your gardens are so beautiful. I wish I could have picked up what you pulled. I live in the PNW also. Thank you for the awesome garden and food help.💗

  19. Becky maybe I’ve missed it but did you ever let us know how you liked the new Dyson you bought at Costco? I’d love to know what you think. Thanks and I love your videos.

  20. I just spent the evening with my precious grandson. He’s in the US Army and I hadn’t seen him in over a year. My granny heart is full!! He wanted me to make beef stew and grilled cheese and banana pudding and of course sweet tea!! He got everything he wanted!!!! I cried my eyes out when he left. I won’t be able to see him off tomorrow because my sweet sister is having surgery for lung cancer tomorrow and we have to be at the hospital at 5:15 am. He understands though and his gf is taking him to the airport. This night was a beautiful moment in time❤❤❤❤❤

  21. Hi Becky. For the rolly polls. Put potatoe slices on top of soil where you see them. And they will eat those instead of plants. Just replace potatoes when they are gone. I saw this on another YouTube show. And couldn't you have used the parsley in freeze dryer that day. You did say you had some freeze dring to do.😊

  22. Hey Becky can u make a clip on your thought in what worked and what doesn’t ,what u like or what u would change with your makeover on your garden design veggie and landscape. Thanks

  23. Zinnas in Maryland get eaten by Japanese beetles, then the powdery mildew comes around September. 🙄 Petunias are getting a vote for easy to grow in my full sun. I grew some dwarf from seed last year and planted them in front of my irises after they finished and the petunias bloomed like crazy up until frost; no drip irrigation and I only had to water them twice. Zinnas brought the butterflies like mad so I may grow again sometime, but maybe shorter ones. I would cut them down at the end of August, but the goldfinches like the seeds so…🤷

  24. I just found your channel, i am curious… did you buy your home and property with the raise gardens or did you create your own yard/ beds? They are marvelous either way!

  25. Hi Becky there are a few very disturbing disgusting videos featuring you that are showing up on you tube atm. Can Josh stop them. ❤❤❤ one link in the comments 🤗

  26. Good Morning Becky
Not sure if anyone has told you but, you can save seeds from your spent flowers. There are several YT Videos on it. 🥰🥰
