‘We are committed to maintaining rigorous quality standards and providing a safe, reliable source of cannabis products,’ said the owners of cannabis dispensary
The owners of the Garden River First Nation dispensary that sold cannabis to two people who overdosed offered their condolences to friends and family of the victims, including the family of someone who died.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and community members affected by the recent overdoses here in Garden River,” said Little Green Garden on social media.
The Anishinabek Police Service issued a drug alert for Garden River First Nation this week after reports of two suspected overdoses.
Police said the two incidents happened on different dates at separate locations.
Several people reportedly consumed what they believed to be cannabis from a bong, at a residence. One person who consumed from the bong was subsequently transported to hospital with symptoms consistent with an overdose and has since died.

“It has come to our attention that cannabis purchased from Little Green Garden was present at both incidents,” said the owners of the dispensary, which has since closed.
“Out of an abundance of caution, and at the request of the Anishinabek Police Service, we have temporarily closed the store while the cause of these overdoses is investigated.”
The safety and well-being of their customers and community members are their highest priorities, the owners said.
“We are committed to maintaining rigorous quality standards and providing a safe, reliable source of cannabis products. To support the investigation, we have provided samples of every cannabis strain in our store to the Anishinabek Police Service for testing to confirm that the products do not contain any harmful or dangerous substances.
“Our hearts are with the families, loved ones, and all those affected by this tragedy. We stand with our community during this difficult time and remain committed to supporting the ongoing investigation and ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone we serve,” the post said.
