Ah! I’m glad you mentioned the coreopsis you lost. I lost three that I planted last year and they didn’t make it but should have based on zone. Mine were the Nova Sunstone.

One of my friends is like you Laura, she packs out her flower beds so tight. It’s not in drifts though, just lots of different plants packed in. It’s very pretty, but I don’t find the eye has anywhere to rest. Am I the only one that likes to have some mulch between plants to delineate the space?

I put pine needle straw from my pine trees under my tomato plants to keep the dirt from splashing up on the plants.
In my experience (zone 9b) tomatoes do not like extreme heat unless they are specifically bred for it. They will stop bearing but they won't die. If you don't despair and yank them, fruit production will resume as soon as the temps drop. Cherry and juliette tomatoes are generally more heat tolerant.
ohh I just realise I have been putting frames in wrong way round as I would have done the widest bit at the bottom going to narrowest at the top – seeing them the other way round makes far more sense 😂
It’s such a bummer when grass grows into ground covers! I have creeping phlox that I’ve been trying to get the grass out of it for years🙄 on a brighter note I installed the Merlin bird app this morning and it’s so nice being able to find out which birds are singing in my garden ☺️🕊️🦅🦆🦉last week a wild turkey landed on the lawn only about twenty five feet or so from me! That was fun for this bird geek 🦃
