Families are being invited to a North East garden centre store to enjoy a summer of free, nature-themed activities.

Dobbies in Birtley is running workshops including a special edition of the Little Seedlings Club and a Gabby’s Dollhouse-themed session in partnership with DreamWorks.

Nigel Lawton, plant buyer at Dobbies, said: “Gardening is a fantastic way for children to connect with nature, spark their curiosity and have fun outdoors.

“Through our Little Seedlings Club and the Gabby’s Dollhouse Summer Holiday Club workshops, we’re creating fun, hands-on experiences that introduce children to plants, wildlife and the environment, and help them learn a new skill.”

The free-to-attend Little Seedlings Club will take place on Sunday, 5 July, at 9:30am and will focus on water and its role in the natural world.

Children will learn about the water cycle, wildlife habitats, and how ponds support biodiversity.

The session includes a craft activity where children can create their own pond habitat.

In addition to the regular club, Dobbies is also hosting a Gabby’s Dollhouse Summer Holiday Club workshop in collaboration with DreamWorks.

During this event, children will step into Kitty Fairy’s garden to learn about the secret life of gardens, discover magical fairy garden stories, explore dandelion wishes and learn how to become nature guardians.

The workshop concludes with a craft activity where children will make their own secret fairy garden door to take home.

Both workshops are free, but booking is required through the Dobbies website.
