Bunnings shoppers are only just discovering a little-known section of the hardware store where plants and herbs can be snapped up for a bargain.
Kenzie Beames, from Adelaide, told Yahoo Lifestyle the tube stock area, hidden in the back of the garden department near the herbs and vegetables, could easily be overlooked.
The stay-at-home mum stumbled upon it a couple of years ago when looking to tend to a neglected garden and has since scored plenty of discounted plants and herbs.
“It’s kind of tucked away, which is a shame really, but at the same time it does make it feel a bit like a hidden gem when you do find it,” she said.

Kenzie said when you’re on a budget, the tube stock section is a great option that makes gardening “more doable” as you can save hundreds of dollars.

While a lot of Bunnings fans know about the tube stock section, it remains a well-kept secret for many casual shoppers.
What does tube stock mean?
Tube stock plants are small plants with healthy root systems ready for planting in your garden, according to Australian Plants Online.
The plants are young and often between 5cm and 15cm tall, depending on the type of plant.
Due to their smaller size, the plants are low-cost but high-value.
At Bunnings, stock varies from store to store, but at the moment, online customers can pick up various plants.
For example, a 68cm agapanthus in the tube stock section costs $3.85, whereas a larger 140mm agapanthus costs $14.20.

“It’s not huge, it’s not massive, but I always start here when I’m looking for plants,” Kenzie said.
Aussies were excited to be let in on the secret, while others said they too frequent the section.
“Last time I went, I picked up a bunch of $1 sale seedlings,” one person said.
“I do this too. I also like to shop the clearance plants because even if they look a bit dead, you can bring them back to life, and it’s so much cheaper,” another said.
