Federal search underway at GKN Aerospace
Federal authorities are serving a search warrant at GKN Aerospace in Garden Grove, the scene of a recent chemical tank emergency that prompted widespread evacuations.
GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – Federal agents on Wednesday raided the GKN Aerospace facility in Garden Grove in connection with a search warrant that authorizes agents to search the multi-building complex and seize extensive records regarding the storage and management of hazardous chemical compounds.

The targeted location is the GKN Aerospace facility situated at 12122 Western Avenue in Garden Grove.
The warrant specifically authorizes federal officers to search the “Main Building,” an adjacent structure designated as “Bldg 2,” and “the Grey Building,” alongside surrounding parking areas, driveways, and chemical storage tanks.

According to court documents, investigators are seeking evidence, contraband, fruits, or instrumentalities of violations concerning Title 42, United States Code, Section 7412(r), which mandates a “general duty to prevent accidental release of extremely hazardous substance into the ambient air.”
The primary focus of the seizure order centers heavily on “methyl methacrylate and/or any hazardous substance.”
Authorized items for seizure include chemical samples, employee training logs, internal safety complaints, company communications, and documents and logs concerning storage tanks, cooling equipment, and temperature regulation devices used for methyl methacrylate.
The government’s search team has been granted permission to conduct the digital device searches either on-site or off-site at a law enforcement laboratory, with a mandate to complete the digital review within one year of the warrant’s execution, according to court documents.
