Welcome to my channel and to another packed episode. Attention turns to filling my remaining cut flower garden beds this week with the slight distraction of making changes to the new washhouse garden. Something about it has been a little off and that niggle has grown over the last few weeks. In this video we make a change that should have been done from the offset.

It’s not all flower garden this week though. I do plant a few things out in the vegetable garden too. One of those is arguably our daughter’s highlight crop of 2025.

Duncan is, as always, very helpful during this episode and I can’t thank him enough for supporting and suggesting ways to improve the garden.

I’m s o excited to show you this video and I hope you agree the change is an improvement too.

Thanks for watching. If you’re new here, I’d love it if you subscribed to watch future videos. From the main gardens, the vegetable garden and the brand new cutting flower garden to attempt to sell bouquets this year, there’s a whole busy journey coming to The Farmyard Garden throughout 2026.

To all who have followed my channel for a long time, thank you for being here and thank you for clreating this little community with me, a safe and inviting space for new community members to join too.

  1. Clare. We need to have a discussion. I think I speak for everybody on here. Where do you get all your energy from???? is it in tablet form or liquid form? Who is your supplier? Where do we get it from? What is the post and package? Need a link 😂😂😂

Honestly, I watch your videos and I was simply exhausted at how much you achieve. I’m about to go out in the garden and get on with planting (after cleaning out the animals) and I’m tired at the thought 😂😂😂

  2. Perfect time of year to take rose cuttings. I believe it’s not the done thing to pop cuttings under a lemonade bottle “greenhouse” from a David Austin rose. And you shouldn’t do so even off camera…

    😉

  3. Oh my goodness what just happened there? I have ceased making any comparisons between what you do and what I do in my head because your work and achievements are just incomparable. I am awestruck at what you and Duncan can just rustle up… You should be landscape gardeners for a living – you would make a fortune and be able to buy ALL the David Austin roses 😂😂 Bloody well done, another jaw-dropping video.

  4. Good grief woman. JUST LIKE THAT!!!! 😂😂😂 Well done – that was such a lot of work in a couple of days. Pink door!!!!

  5. I know it’s a bit late , but you mentioned your root parsley didn’t germinate this year. Did you stratify the seeds? It’s my understanding, at least from the variety that I have, that they need to be put in the fridge for a couple of weeks before planting.

  6. You make me smile, I can completely relate to the fact that just when you finish a project and start looking forward to resting and enjoying the fruits of your labour I come up with the next new brilliant idea 😂. Your garden looks brilliant, you should be so proud of what you have created.

  7. Great idea to move the compost bays and create more planting beds, can't have too many of those 😂 Duncan a great help as always even if he's sometimes calked " the troops " 😂
Eveeything coming along lovely Clare. Looking forward to seeing the flower arranging later on in the year ❤ x

  8. Thanks Clare, I’ve got a 3 or 4 year old wild romance hebe that’s quickly taking over my flower bed. Never thought of using it as foliage in bouquets. I’ll give it a chop to get it back in control and looking fresh again ❤
I had to chuckle when you were talking about having to move the compost and as if on queue Duncan came into shot behind you on the digger. I’m surprised you didn’t put some kind of theme tune over it for the comic timing 😂 now would that be superman or bob the builder or I’ve got the theme tune from dads army in my head (goodness knows why) 😂😂😂
The amount you get achieved in a week is amazing. Obviously, you have room and machines to achieve big projects but just one of your ‘projects’ a week would be most people’s target in your situation Im sure. I hope you and Duncan are taking some time to sit back and enjoy everything you are creating ❤
I vote to leave the door as is. It already looks great but will look wonderful when the rose grows a bit.

  9. Hi Clair, might be worth trying some boiled linseed oil on the wash house door. Would freshen it up, show the wood grain off more without making it look totally out of place painted.

  10. Do you have any more wooden fencing boards? You could make a 3-sided box to place in front of the blue water pipe.

  11. You always amaze me at all you do , love the washhouse cottage garden . If your ever round Stafford way I have plants to give away , I have split some of my perennials and no place left to put them .just message me . Love your videos, so professionally done . Tfs

  12. Maybe a pink wash on the door that allows the character/distressed bits to show through? Don’t want it looking too new. The extension on the garden is fab 🙌

  13. Hi! I just came across your channel and really enjoyed this episode. The garden transformation journey is very inspiring, especially how you’re improving things step by step. Looking forward to seeing how the cut flower garden develops this season

  14. Green. If you're going to paint the door, go with dark, muted, sage green. Otherwise it will be too overpowering I think. Anyway, your garden/farm is beautiful, so well maintained and all your little plants are already so vigorous! But I'm most envious of that little brick building, I think it might be the most perfect thing I've ever seen in any garden ever. With the trellises and the window and everything omg

  15. We always give yourselves these jobs but I have to say that I think this job had to be done. The end result looks brilliant. I love David Austin roses and can’t wait to see yours in bloom
