A garden designer has been recognised for her work for Oakhaven Hospice at the BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair at Beaulieu.
Judges awarded Claire Booth a silver merit for creating the border garden Bob’s Full Circle, featuring a fish sculpture called Bob made by stainless steel artist Michael Turner.
The garden design, which debuted as a fundraiser for Oakhaven in 2012, featured a peaceful woodland area that reflected the woodland area around the hospice.

Claire, from New Milton, worked with local suppliers, using plants sourced from Sway-based Folium and Flos Plants Ltd, Creepers and The Plant Yard in Lymington, and services from Yanina Stockings of Green Spiral Willow based in Sway to create the garden. She also used a bespoke driftwood bench made by the Driftwood Den workshop in Hordle.
After receiving her merit, Claire said: “I was so pleased to be able to help Oakhaven Hospice with their fundraising efforts, and I am thrilled that the design was so well received, especially by Gardeners’ World’s Adam Frost.
“It was a fantastic event, talking to lots of people over the three days, who were keen to find out about Oakhaven Hospice as well as the planting. The whole experience has been an absolute joy and privilege.”
Oakhaven community fundraiser, Hannah Davies, said: “Many thanks to Claire and to all the suppliers who supported our beautiful border, in particular our sponsor Netserve Ltd.
“The sponsorship enabled us not only to cover the costs of the border, but also to run a fundraising raffle. I’m pleased to announce that over £2,300 was raised at the event, all of which will help our specialist teams provide care for families across the New Forest, Totton and Waterside.
“We were delighted to have the opportunity to take part in this year’s BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair at Beaulieu, and thrilled with the silver merit award. It was great to be present at the fair and to meet so many people from our local community.”
